Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Seminar and Workshop Roadshow -
Background
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is a set of 17 global aims established by the United Nations to address the economic and social development issues in facing the ‘The 2030 Agenda’. Indonesia adopted the initiative to accelerate the achievement of SDGs, supported by the Government of Indonesia through Presidential Decree No. 59/2017.
Realizing that achieving the SDGs is a collaborative effort, PTTEP together with CECT University of Trisakti initiated a seminar and workshop roadshow. The aim of the seminar roadshow is to promote multi-sector sustainable collaboration to achieve the SDGs, and to also provide training for local NGOs and social entrepreneurs through the CECT-led workshop.
The SDGs seminar was the first of its kind and has become an avenue for knowledge-sharing between relevant stakeholders, including the national and local-level government, private sector, NGOs, CSOs and academics. The aim is to share knowledge and experience on in achieving sustainability that aims to focus on creating a better partnership to promote a more sustainable social and economic development for Indonesia.
Outcome and Impact
The seminar and workshop became an opportunity for PTTEP to become a private-sector leader in supporting the Government of Indonesia to reach the SDGs agenda. It also presents PTTEP Indonesia as both a leader in the oil & gas industry with a strong awareness for environmental and social sustainability in Indonesia.
This roadshow was conducted in 9 (nine) major cities in Indonesia and served as a platform to showcase PTTEP Indonesia’s CSR programs as an example of how the private sector, NGO and government can work together to create a sustainable impact to the community.
This event have also yield various positive impact, including:
- Increased awareness and understanding of the SDGs from panelists and relevant stakeholders.
- Increased awareness of the challenges faced by each relevant stakeholder on implementation of the SDGs. This has led to open communication and cooperation between stakeholders in working together and filling the gaps of the roles of each stakeholder to achieve the SDGs as collaborative partners.
- Each stakeholder have a better understanding of the SDGs as a national priority, as well as their role in implementing the SDGs in their programs.
- Educating participants and workshop attendees in the technical aspects of conducting good CSR programs and/or social businesses that are sustainable and have a sustainable impact to the community.
