Collaborating with local entrepreneurs is important to increase the economy of people in small towns and villages. This is also what PTTEP Indonesia have done, in collaboration with Sobis Pammase or also known as Social Business Pammase Association. Initiated on 6 June 2018, this partnership produces local commodities and yields benefits for the community.
The Sobis Pammase Association itself is a social business entity that is managed professionally and independently, contributing to the development of communities at large. Including what is currently being the focus of the association, which is to drive the early childhood development program towards sustainability.
PTTEP Indonesia’s role in this cooperation is the sole investor for 5 years until 2023. The company provides guidance and performance evaluation to accelerate business development and optimize the utilization of all sources.
Currently, PTTEP Indonesia have agreed to support 5 business units of Sobis Pammase, namely shrimp farm and bee farm in Polman Regency, as well as 2 chicken farms and a duck farm in Mamuju Regency.
Ever since the Covid-19 pandemic, Sobis Pammase’s revenue have drastically decreased. Not only that, the earthquake that hit West Sulawesi in early 2021 caused heavy damage to one of the chicken farms. However, Sobis Pammase remains committed to allocate some of its profit to PAUD/SIOLA, especially those that were built and supported by PTTEP Indonesia.
In July, the first profit sharing for PAUD/SIOLA was given to 6 schools with a value of Rp 19,500,000. Principally the fund is left to the discretion of each school. Since the pandemic is still ongoing and schools are closed, the schools will use this fund to ease the economic burden of the teachers who receive a salary of only Rp 300,000 each month. The teachers expressed their utmost gratitude towards PTTEP Indonesia and Sobis Pammase for this very much needed blessing.
